Statue ~ King Kazimierz (Casimir) IV Jagiello

This statue is located at the Casimir Cultural Center in the historic Cambria City neighborhood of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The building behind it is the former St. Casimir Catholic Church, which has been restored and repurposed as a cultural and event center.

The statue depicts King Kazimierz (Casimir) IV Jagiello, whose full name was Kazimierz Jagiellończyk (Casimir IV Jagiellon). He ruled as:

  • King of Poland (1447–1492)
  • Grand Duke of Lithuania (1440–1492)

He was known for strengthening the Polish-Lithuanian state and for his support of the Church and charitable works, which is why the pedestal reads:

Kazimierz Jagiełło
Prince of Poland – Prince of Lithuania
Benefactor of the Poor
Saint

The statue was installed outside the Casimir Cultural Center as part of preserving and celebrating the Polish heritage of Cambria City, a neighborhood founded by many Polish immigrants.

It’s a beautiful location to photograph—especially when the stained-glass window above the entrance catches the light. If you’re exploring Johnstown’s Polish heritage, this is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.
